Whatever Works
|
IMDB rating: 8.20 Plot: Attempting to impress his ideologies on religion, relationships, and the randomness (and worthlessness) of existence, lifelong New York resident Boris Yellnikoff rants to anyone who will listen, including the audience. But when he begrudgingly allows naive Mississippi runaway Melodie St. Ann Celestine to live in his apartment, his reclusive rages give way to an unlikely friendship and Boris begins to mold the impressionable young girl’s worldly views to match his own. When it comes to love, “whatever works” is his motto, but his already perplexed life complicates itself further when Melodie’s parents eventually track her down. |

Why is it when someone works for a company for a long time they feel they can do whatever they want?
I just got my first professional job after college. I’m relatively young and new (23 yo). This is a hospital that contains a large number of employees. I notice employees that have been here for 10 or 30 years. They feel they can do whatever the hell they want to. Even treat people who are smaller then them like ****. I notice they have a kind of like don’t care type of attitudes about issues that are pressing as well. Also they are more likely to say what they really feel about some issue. I notice this for employees that have worked short times as well 2 to 5 years.
I know what you mean because I am in a new job, But, sometimes its not that they do w-e they want its, that they’ve been with the company longer and they do KNOW more then us. So, we feel like they do w-e they want. You get very comfortable when you have been working in a company for such a long time. I worked at Washington Mutual for 5 yrs and I felt so comfortable but, I never treated anyone bad if I needed to train you or help you in something I would do it! Good luck!

When you have been going to the same place every workday for 10 to 30 years, you become comfortable. Kind of like going home and sitting on the couch.
It isn’t something they probably even notice (you do, because you are new with fresh eyes).
However, being really comfortable does not give them the right to treat newer employees with disrespect. It could be that it is harder for employers to fire someone with that much seniority (they would have to have a really good reason and lots of documentation).
Please don’t use these employees as "models" of how to behave on the job. Work hard, don’t gossip or mistreat co-workers and if you must complain - be prepared with a solution.

Yes dear you are right. The Best way to cope with the stress that creates is to meet and talk to friends after working hours about your experiences in the workplace. That will release some steam Off your mind.
